Line 6 Variax 700 Electric Guitar
After Line 6 changed the guitar world with "Amp Modelling", I suppose it was just a matter of time before someone said - "if we can model an amp, why can't we model guitars too?". The Line 6 Variax is a simple, bolt on neck, double cutaway style electric that at first glance looks as if it doesn't have any pickups! Built into the bridge is a a piezo style pick that send the guitar signal to the DSP chip in the guitar, which in turn alters the sound of the guitar to replicate various famous guitar sounds. This isn't done via midi so there is no delay in the way the sound is converted - this makes playing the guitar as natural feeling as any other "normal" guitar. The Variax comes in several guises now - in the electric range there is a 300, 600 & 700 series. The basic electronics are the same in all 3 models, but the quality of the guitar gets better as you go up through the range. You can also buy a Variax steel string acoustic & a Variax nylon string acoustic too. The Variax 700 is the top of the range Variax model - these are great guitars to play & will certainly be at home in any pro players collection. As well as the carved top design & a wide range of finishes on the Variax 700, you can also chose to have either a hard tail or a tremelo on the guitar. For anyone looking to have a guitar for either live or home recording that can quickly provide a wide range of different sounding guitars, the Variax 700 is an excellent choice.
