The Roland TD3 kit has recently been upgraded & now comes with an improved mesh snare head & more realistic hi hat control. Many people chose to buy a TD3 kit to own along side their acoustic kit so that they can practice at home without making a noise. In addition to the silent practice benefit, it's also worth noting that the TD3 kit is great for recording. You don't need a load of expensive microphones to record a Roland TD3 kit - you just plug the kit into your recording device using a pair of regular guitar leads! You can even use a Roland TD3 kit to trigger other midi sounds - like all the sounds in a computer for example. Having an electronic kit means you'll play it more. It doesn't take up much room, so you can have it permanently set up, it makes almost no noise, so you can play whilst the family are in the house & you can plug you iPod or walkman into it & jam along to all your favourite tracks. Just as the V-Tour line is getting an upgrade this year, so too is the V-Compact series. The TD-3KW takes over from the current TD-3KV, and features Roland's new PDX-8 snare mesh V-pad and CY-5 hi-hat cymbal pad. Roland's newest mesh V-Pad (PDX-8) offers an expanded 10-inch rim for more comfortable and quiet rim-shots, as well as separate head and rim triggering for authentic performance.

Improved Cymbal Pad for Hi-Hat or Splash

The newly designed cymbal pad (CY-5) features a 12-inch playing zone and swing movement for more drummer-friendly triggering. The pad also provides separate bow and edge triggering. The CY-5 can be also used as an additional cymbal pad, such as a splash, on V-Drum kits.
