London International Music Show - Education Day

The London International Music Show sited at London’s Excel Centre runs from 11th to 14th June 2009.
Friday is Education Day supported by Music for Youth and this is what’s happening!
LIVE HALL
BiG GiG 11.00 - 12.30
The LIMS BiG GiG will be BiG - up to a thousand singers, young musicians, teachers and parents will come together, playing guitars, flutes, keyboards, percussion, violins, tabla and everything in between to rehearse and perform in the world première of this specially commissioned LIMS Anthem. Take part in this unique experience... this band will rock!
MFY Prom 14.00 – 15.00
An inspirational concert performed by young people for young people. Presented by Dave Benson Phillips this concert will showcase a diverse range of music including samba, jazz, funk and classical.
EXHIBITION HALL
BiG RiFF 13.00 & 15.30
The ultimate way to meet the music retailers! Listen out for the “5 minutes to go” announcements and make your way to the nearest exhibition stand so you are ready to try out their kit and take part in the BiG RiFF!

BANGING THE DRUM FOR HEALTH, WELL-BEING AND FITNESS
Watch in amazement as Darrin Mooney (drummer, Primal Scream) puts himself through an incremental drumming test to exhaustion.
INSTANT BLUES Presented by Yamaha
Based on the recent nationwide tour of the Yamaha Jazz Experience this session is a creative approach to jazz for the young musician. Bring your instrument or voice and join Andrea Vicari as you create an instant blues band together.
INVESTING IN YOUR FUTURE Presented by ABRSM, the Musican’s Union & Trinity Guildhall
Help shape your future in this live session, facilitated by music education specialist Leonora Davis. This is your opportunity to say what you would really want from professional development and get the latest information on what is available to you.
DIGITAL SOLUTIONS FOR THE CLASSROOM Presented by Roland
Imagine a silent classroom yet every pupil is playing an instrument and is personally in control of and listening to their own mix. Using the latest Roland technology, discover a new way of teaching and creating music in your classroom.
THE CONCOURSE
Chill out in the concourse and listen to live music performed throughout the day. A wide array of organisations including Access to Music, International Guitar Foundation, Roland and Yamaha will provide the entertainment. Make sure you don’t miss the 240 strong choir from Gallions Primary School who will perform their self penned piece at 12.30.
Tickets for the LIMS education day are priced at £5 each for students in a group, with teachers going free when registered on www.lims09registration.com
